Roseann Carolyn Gish

Roseann Carolyn Gish, 76, passed away September 2, 2021.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Rosetta Ann and Milton William Sams. She is survived by her only child, Sam Laird Gish, his wife Haley, and three grandchildren: Kennedy, Brooklyn, and Hunter.

Roseann graduated from Topeka West High School, the Class of 1962. She earned a Bachelors and Masters of Education. She taught Journalism at Silver Lake, Auburn Washburn, and Shawnee Heights, which claimed most of her 48 years of standing behind the desk. She had a love for journalism, producing yearbooks, newspapers, and teaching photography.

Roseann married Capt. Robert Lynn Gish in Miami, Oklahoma in 1975. Sam Laird Gish was born 1978, and he became the joy of their lives. Roseann and Bob followed Sam's sports career of the Blasters, Jr Blues, and Jayhawk baseball all over the US. Roseann and Bob were beyond proud to cheer for Sam as he pitched for University of Kansas baseball team.

Dentist, Doctor Norman Ruediger, came into her life and they traveled, cheered on the Kansas Wildcats, and he taught her to love the color purple!

She said "I loved two wonderful men; I had a great life, and I lived it my way. Don't cry for me!"

Roseann was an avid sports lover. She not only attended almost every single game of her son's, but she was also her grandchildren's number one fan! She was there to cheer them on rain or shine. You could always count on her!

Memorial contributions may be made to St Francis Medical Clinic, Dialysis Unit, 1700 SW 7th Street, Topeka, KS 66606.

A graveside service will take place at Memorial Park Cemetery at 6th and Gage on Monday, September 13, 2021 at 10:00 a.m.

I am honestly crushed by this notice of Roseann's passing. We go all the way back to Polk Grade school. So many memories we could share. Roseann was a beautiful girl in every way that I can recall. I also recall how fantastic her mother was, so I would guess that the apple fell very close to the tree. She will be missed I know!

As for all classmates, sorry to learn of Roseann's passing.  If for no other reason, know that her long and illustrious teaching career will have hundreds mourning her passing along with each of us.  Rest in peace.

It was a shock that left me saddened by Roseann's passing. She was a good friend, our paths crossed in 1986 when I moved back to Topeka. I bought some clothes from her so I could look for a job. sha and Bob and I shared many happy moments and kept me up on Sammys sports accomplishments. They were so very proud of Sammy and so wasI. She was on my Avon. Route and so I saw her regularly. She was a beautiful hostess and loved entertaining her THS/ TWHSCLASSMATES friends. And her seasonal decorations were fantastic. Roseann will always be in our hearts. A beautiful lady and friend... Thanks for many years of good times and friendship..

Sorry to hear of Roseann's passing.  We were classmates at THS before she transferred to TWHS.  We never socialized or ran around together but attended some classes together.  She was a pretty and nice girl and and popular with everyone.  Always sad when you lose a classmate.  Rest in peace Roseann.
