Happy 80^th Birthday Classmates

The class 80^th birthday party last Wednesday and Thursday was, by all accounts, a big success.  The weather was perfect with 51 classmates joining in celebration at the Lake Shawnee Garden House on Wednesday and 28 attending the festivities at Marty and Neil Shepherd’s house at Lake Wabaunsee on Thursday.  A Bar-B-Que meal was served on Wednesday followed by some very fancy and tasty cupcakes for dessert.

Reunion committee members, Kay Swalwell Scott, Jane Edmonston Sewell, Louise Singer Ecord, Mary Kay Perry Magerkurth, and Marty Mills Shepherd outdid themselves in preparing a fabulous smorgasbord on Thursday.  Louise made Happy 80^th wrappers with her Cricut printing machine to wrap around Hershey chocolate bars for dessert. With appetites sated, some classmates adjourned to the fishing dock where unsuccessful attempts were made to land “a big one”.  Others enjoyed the lake by jet ski, pontoon or speed boat.

Many thanks to Marty and Neil for opening their house to us.  Their home provided a setting where classmates could relax, lay back and enjoy each other's company more like family members than classmates, and that was very special.
