Daniel McJunkin

Daniel E. McJunkin passed away Monday, December 12, 2005.  He grew up in Topeka, Kansas, playing all types of sports and was an Eagle Scout and Sea Scout.  He and his wife Karen R. McMillin became high school sweethearts during their sophomore year at Topeka High School.  They were married in 1965 and have one daughter, Brenda Ann, and two grandsons, Alex and Michael.

Concurrent with his graduation from Kansas State University in 1966, he received his commission as a Second Lieutenant, USMC.  He earned his wings the following year at the US Naval Air Training Command in Pensacola, Florida, and was promoted to Captain in 1969.  While in the Corps, Dan was awarded the Air Medal and Distinguished Flying Cross for service in Viet Nam.  Following six years of military duty, Dan continued his aviation career flying for the oil industry in the Gulf of Mexico and Life Flight for Indianapolis and Cincinnati hospital systems.  In addition to his aviation career, Dan focused on construction management in projects ranging from historic home restorations to custom homes and light commercial buildings.  Following Dan and Karen's move to the Woodlands, Texas in 2001, Dan became known as "The Woodlands House Doctor."

Throughout his life, Dan showed a passion for investigating, learning, teaching, guiding, sharing and enriching something or someone every day.  He became known by family and friends as the Master of Surprises and Minister of Fun plus someone you could always count upon to come through for you.  He believed everyone should be treated with respect, honesty and trust.  A tremendous legacy to emulate for all of us.
