Jerome Paul Blegstad (Jerry), 63, of Kansas City, MO, passed away at his home on July 1, 2008. Jerry was born Oct. 16, 1944 in Manchester, N.H., the first of 2 children to Melford and Wanda Blegstad. A proud Army veteran of the Vietnam war, he enjoyed sports, especially baseball, music and competing in BBQ competitions. Jerry was a proud coach of Powderpuff softball where he took his team to the nationals. His love of sports even lead him to umpire baseball in his off time. He was preceded in death by his parents and survived by his daughter, Kareston and husband Mark Carpenter of Independence; son, Dustin and wife Heather Blegstad of Kansas City; 3 grandchildren, Heather, Ashley, and Mandi of Independence; 1 great grandchild, Jayden Bono of Independence; sister, Margaret Anderson of Wichita, KS; 2 nieces, Kimberly and Shelley of Wichita, Kansas; and special friends, Alex and Marilyn Mora.
