Steven L. Siple

 

         Steven Lee Siple, 52, Topeka, died Friday, March 21, 1997 at a Topeka hospital.  Mr. Siple had been a road property account supervisor for the Santa Fe Railroad for more than 31 years and he most recently had worked for Topeka Foundry and Ironworks.  He also served in the Kansas National Guard.

         He was born May 25, 1944, in Horton, the son of Lyle Lee and Betty R. Coombs Siple.  He lived in Denison before he moved to Topeka in 1958. He was graduated from Topeka High School in 1962.   Mr. Siple was a member of Northland Christian Church, where he served as a Deacon. He was he also was a member of Capital Post No. 1 in the American Legion, Topeka Bowling Association Board of Directors and TOPEKA camping club. He had coached Little Legion Baseball, Capital Post No. 1 of the American Legion baseball and semi-professional baseball for 18 years.

         He was married to Janet Ann Dooley Smith on November 30, 1985, in Topeka. She survives.

         Other survivors include two sons, Scott D. Siple, Wichita, and Eric A. Smith, Lawrence; two daughters, Pamela Ann Logan, Silver Lake, and Machelle D. Riley, Overland Park; his parents, Lyle L. and Betty R. Siple, Topeka; two brothers, Philip M Siple, Topeka, and Timothy J Siple, Conyers, Georgia; and four grandchildren.  

         Services will be at 10 AM Monday at Northland Christian Church in Topeka.  Burial will be at Rochester Cemetery.  Mr. Siple will lie in state after 11 AM today at Parker-Price Mortuary, where relatives and friends will meet from 6:30 to 7:30 PM.  Memorial contributions may be made to the Northland Christian Church, 3102 NW Topeka Blvd., Topeka 66617.
