Anna Rodriguez

Anna Borjon Rodriguez, 70, a lifelong resident of Topeka, Kansas, died February 12, 2013 at St. Francis Health Center. She was born on February 2, 1943 in Topeka, the daughter of Jubencio and Saturnina (Borjon) Rodriguez. Anna graduated from Topeka High School, Washburn University and the University of Kansas. She worked in staff development under SRS for the State of Kansas. Anna was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. She had attended every Bottoms reunion where she enjoyed socializing with family and friends. She liked flower gardening, crocheting, and watching old historic westerns. She was an avid reader and enjoyed playing the piano. Anna was an interpreter for the LIEAP program for Spanish speaking applicants. She volunteered at Let's Help and RMI Food Pantries. She liked going to yard sales. She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Maria Rivera, and a brother, Raul M. Rodriguez. Survivors include four sisters, Inez Young of Topeka, Gloria Ramos of Lawrence, KS, Angelina Gonzalez of Topeka and Elena Carrizales of Oakdale, MN, two brothers, Gilberto Rodriguez of Ozawkie, KS and Jose Luis Rodriguez of Lawrence, KS, an aunt, Jessie Borjon of Clarksville, TN, an uncle, Joe Borjon of Topeka, and a niece, Katie Howard, who Anna took special care of. Numerous nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. Anna will lie in state on Monday after 2:00 p.m. at the Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home, where the family will receive friends from 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. A Parish Rosary will be prayed at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Interment will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Memorial Contributions may be made in Anna's memory to Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church or to the American Diabetes Association and sent in care of the Brennan-Mathena Funeral Home, 800 SW 6th Ave., Topeka, KS 66603.
