         Airman 2.C. Richard Cameron Ogle, 22, Mountain Home Air Force Base, Idaho, formerly of Topeka, died Monday in the Base Hospital of injuries suffered the day before in a car-train accident near the base.  He was alone in his car.

         He was born October 13, 1944 at Pinehurst, North Carolina, and spent most of his life in Topeka.  He had been in the Air Force since August, 1965.

         He attended Topeka public schools and was graduated from West High School in 1962.  During his high school years, he was a member of Boys Pep Club, Key Club, Letterman's Club, swimming team, intramural team and the Coin Club.  He was a member of the year-book staff his senior year at West High.

         He was a member of First Congregational Church and the Topeka Country Club swimming team.  His home in Topeka was at 3905 W. 26th.  He attended the University of Kansas and Washburn University and was a graduate of Chanute Air Force Base College at Rantoul, Illinois.

         Survivors include his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Ogle, and a brother Scott Ogle, Tacoma, Washington.  Wall-Diffenderfer Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.  Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery.

Richard was my next door neighbor from junior high school through high school.

We played tons of basketball on his driveway court with boys from the neighborhood.

We both had a newspaper route at the VA hospital during junior high.

If I remember correctly, Richard was killed in an automobile accident.
