Martha H. (Marty) Mettner (McHenry)

Martha H. "Marty" Mettner McHenry, lost her fight with cancer on March 31, 2011, but never lost her smile, her love for family and friends or her sense of humor. She was a mother, grandmother, teacher, Girl Scout, Pi Phi and an avid KU fan. Born in Little Rock, AR, in 1945 to Capt John R and Helen Mettner, Marty grew up in Lawrence and Topeka, going to Topeka High and then to KU. She lived in the Kansas City area but loved Estes Park, CO, and the Cheley Colorado Camps. She was a teacher in the Shawnee Mission schools for almost 30 years. She is survived by her three wonderful daughters, Amy (NYC), Kellie (Prairie Village) and Megan (Lawrence) and two beautiful grandchildren, Riley and Blake, her brother Randy Mettner (Kay) and her stepfather Maynard Cox, both of Topeka, along with many cousins, nieces and nephews.

I am so sorry to read that Marty has died!  She was such a nice and also pretty girl.

I had no knowledge that we lived in the same town.  If I had I probably would have contacted her.

I know she will be missed by many!

Sally

I too love Estes Park, Marty and I have a son named Blake.  So sorry to hear of your passing.  You were always so happy and had a beautiful smile on your face.  You will be remembered as a great classmate and friend, class of 62, THS.  Rest in peace Marty.
