He had been a member of a Boy Scout troop in Topeka and had received his Eagle award in 1959.  He had been a member of Order of the Arrow, honorary camping society for Scouts.

After graduation from Topeka High School he was enrolled at the University of Kansas in the honors section of beginning chemistry, a class of students deemed capable of superior achievement, and had been appointed the Ray Q. Brewster scholar for the 1962-63 school year.  He also held a residence scholarship at Pearson Hall at the University of Kansas.

He was a member of Central Congregational Church in Topeka.

Lived across the street from Terry before and through most of grade school at Gage Elementary.  His older sisters walked to school with us when we were in early grades which made my mother more comfortable.  His family moved to different school district and I lost track of him for a while after I moved to Florida in fifth grade.  Reaquainted when we both attended THS.  Attended his Eagle Scout award ceremony in '59.  My mother let me know of his passing years later while I was studying at KSU and I was very sorry to hear the news.

Bill thanks for posting a remembrance of Terry. I still think of him occasionally. I also lived at Pearson Scholarship Hall with Terry. He was such an upbeat and fun loving person. I can still picture that smile he usually had on his face. We interacted a lot at the hall but I don't remember having any classes with him except maybe the large lecture hall "flunk out" classes. My late wife Jacqueline Robinson Revely (9-13-14) had several honors chemistry classes with Terry. She also thought highly of him.

I remember Terry from high school at THS.  Didn't have much contact with him but do remember talking with him and maybe having him in a class of two.  Was such a kind person.

Bill -- coincidentally there has been a discussion about Terry Harbaugh on the Roosevelt Alumni pages on FB.  https://www.facebook.com/groups/45779220874/ Tod Hawks, who went to Roosevelt but went back East for prep school started the thread.  Terry was a good friend of mine at Clay and at Roosevelt. Quiet, funny, very smart.  Laird (Larry)

Will look up that alumni site.  Realize Terry and I were both at Rooseveldt Jr. High before THS.  Old memory is just that, getting old I guess.  Thanks for the info.

I met Terry at Roosevelt Jr High and we were in many classes together over the years.  We also both took the trip to Chicago as a result of awards for the Science Fair in 9th grade.  I so enjoyed knowing Terry.
