"And another one down/and another one down/and another one bites the dust."  I talked to Steve last year and reminded him of the money he owed me (I bet I say that to all my old high school mates...in the hope that they might send me some out of some imagened guilt).  Anyway, Steve was a friend of mine and used to pick me up for school in his VW.  He was a teenager going on middle age...a responsible man, with older man friends...and he knew people your average high schooler would not.  It was just he and his mom.  She was a peach with a capital P by the way.  Steve was a gambler of sorts and was always trying to get me into a poker game.  I always lost...except for once when I won a chess set from him.  Judging from the last photo he posted on this site, I wouldn't probably recognize him on the street today.  But his face back in the day will never be forgotten. They say you die twice...once when you pass from this earth and then when your name is never again spoken.  Saying his name now...Steven Clinton Gebhart...will some how keep him alive in the ether.  He is deserving of our tribute as another diverse life we were privledged to know.

I had a similar experience playing poker with Steve - we crossed paths at Washburn University after I came home from the service and he invited me to a game - lost without even a slight chance of success - was nice to touch base with him at that time.
