When I moved to Los Angeles, Larry was the first person I called.  We had dinner at a restaurant in his hometown of Brentwood, Ca.  We stayed in contact for a few years and my wife and I attended a backyard get together in the mid '90s.  Larry and his wife traveled the world.  They were in the Executive Search business.  He told me he had bought an old Ferrari and he was re-conditioning it.  He passed away shortly thereafter of cancer.  They had no children.

When I found out that Larry was fighting lung cancer and wasn't doing very well I gave him a call. He was pretty discouraged because he had stopped smoking several years earlier and thought he had stopped in time.

I traveled a lot back then and when I stopped in LA I would try to get together with he and Sue when I could. I missed him as much as I miss my very great friend Doug Schoenfeldt.

Susie and I had the good fortune of introducing Larry to Los Angeles when he was trying to decide on his first job out of graduate school. A Saturday night on Sunset Strip in Hollywood and a weekend camping on Rosarito Beach outside of Ensenada, Mexico are probably best left for conversation at the reunion. And, yes, he did get his Ferrari. We miss Larry but memories while we lived in LA are all fond ones.

Larry and I bought a surf board together in 1967 when we both lived near the beach.  In a year's time I don't believe either of us stood up on the damn thing.  We're from Kansas.  How were we to know you're supposed to wax the board?

Whatever Gary and Susie don't tell you about the Rosarita Beach camping trip I'll be glad to fill you in.     Larry was a friend from the days we had adjoining junior high school paper routes.   He and Sue enjoyed a wonderful, if too brief, life together.   He is still missed.
